Yoga Ed. Teacher Trainings: What is Yoga Ed.?

Yoga Ed. is an educational program dedicated to changing education through the practice of yoga. Our mission is to empower school communities with yoga to cultivate health and wellness in children and teens. Through evidence-based Professional Institutes, Professional Development, and Educational Resources, Yoga Ed. equips educators with yoga tools to integrate yoga for children and teens into academic environments.

 

Summer Immersion Program

Join Yoga Ed. Trainer Joan Nichols for the Yoga Ed. Summer Immersion Program in New York. Our Summer Immersion Program represents an experiential approach to yoga education, combining one week of intensive instruction with experience- driven mentorship. Learn the evidence-based principles and practices to effectively teach yoga to children and teens. Apply theory to practice by viewing and assisting classes. Upon completion of our program, you will be certified as a Yoga Educator with Yoga Ed. and eligible for Yoga Alliance’s RCYT certification.

Professional Institutes

Professional Institutes are 32-hour training programs for individuals inspired to teach yoga for children and teens. Certified by the Yoga Alliance, our program focuses on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits yoga can provide for children and teens. Upon completion of our institutes, you will be fully equipped with tools to help youth build a lifetime of health and wellness through the practice of yoga.

 

PI1 (9:00 – 5:00pm each day)

Yoga Ed.’s Professional Institute 1: Foundations is designed for individuals who want to learn how to teach yoga to children. Certified by the Yoga Alliance, our Professional Institute 1 focuses on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits yoga can provide for children. Upon completion of our Institute, you will be fully equipped with tools to help children build a lifetime of health and wellness through the practice of yoga.

PI 1 equips you with the basic principles and tools needed to effectively teach yoga to children. Although designed for an academic environment, our curriculum is easily adapted for use in a variety of settings, including yoga studios, at home, and in healthcare settings. You will learn yoga techniques to promote children’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Emphasis is placed on learning how to read and relate to children through understanding child development, anatomy, physiology, and learning domains. From this transformational training, you will emerge with the ability to effectively design yoga classes to meet children’s varying needs whether they are at school, home, or a yoga class in their community.

PI2 (May 6, 7, 20, 21 from 9:00 – 5:00pm each day @ Eastside YMCA in Penfield, NY)

Yoga Ed.’s Professional Institute 2: Building Blocks is designed for individuals who want to learn how to teach yoga to teens. Certified by the Yoga Alliance, our Professional Institute 2 focuses on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits yoga can provide for teenagers. This Institute will equip you with the principles and tools needed to set you and your teenager up for a lifetime of health and wellness.

PI 2 equips you with the basic principles and tools needed to effectively teach yoga to teenagers. Although designed for academic environment, our curriculum is easily adapted for use in a variety of settings, including yoga studios, at home, and in healthcare settings. You will study the internal and external changes in teenagers, and how changes can alter the teens’ yoga experience.  Emphasis is placed on learning how to read and relate to teens through understanding adolescent development, anatomy, physiology, and learning domains. From this transformational training, you will emerge with the ability to effectively shift teaching practices to connect with teens.

Focus: Ages 13 to 18 / Grades 6th to 12th

Mentorship

The Mentorship Program is a unique opportunity for you to connect with and learn from highly skilled professionals in the field of children’s and teen’s yoga.  The Mentorship Program consists of 3 components: Classroom Experience (18 hours), One-on-One Discussion (3 hours) and Self-Study. Professional Development

Improve your students’ focus in 5 minutes. This chair yoga Professional Development features simple, easy-to-use yoga exercises, breath work and brain break ideas for you and your students that you can do right at your desk. No additional equipment necessary. This program can be customized to fit your school and /or grade’s needs and can be taught in 2, 4 or 8 hours depending on the depth of information you would like.
